Belém, Portugal

A 15 minute tram ride along the coast from Lisbon is Belém. Here you will find The Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, which is just incredible. A must see.
Just opposite the monestry is the Museum of Modern Art, which was wonderful.
Down the road is a quirky cafe and patisserie where people were queuing up for a box of egg tarts.
The interior was a metal ship-interior-looking place, very cool.
Down the road a bit is the Torre de Belém, built in 1515.
Walking to a modern tower, and nice spot of type:
And landmark Padrao dos Descobrimentos has great feature in the ground in front of it, as well as the views from the top.
And lastly, if you're in Belém check out the coach museum, Museu Nacional dos Coches. Incredible Cinderella-esque coaches. They were very ornate, massive and well worth a look at.
