Matisse to Malevich

Matisse to Malevich: Pioneers of Modern Art from the Hermitage. The Hermitage is showing 'Outstanding works by Matisse, Picasso, Van Dongen, De Vlaminck, Derain and many other contemporaries of theirs.' And I have to say, they were outstanding. Photographs can never do justice to these pieces, so get along and see them in all their glory. Above was one of my favourites: ©Albert Marquet, Port of Hamburg, 1908, 1908, c/o Pictoright Amsterdam 2009
Henri Matisse, Still life with Blue Tablecloth, 1909 © Succession H. Matisse c/o Pictoright Amsterdam 2010.
© Kees van Dongen, Lady in a Black Hat, 1908, c/o Pictoright Amsterdam 2010.
© Pablo Picasso, Absinthe Drinker, 1901, c/o Pictoright Amsterdam 2010.
© Albert Marquet, Rainy Day in Paris (Nôtre-Dame Cathedral), 1910, c/o Pictoright Amsterdam 2009.This exhibition is only about half the building so you only need an hour, to ninety minutes. Depending on how long you spend ogling each piece. Matisse to Malevich: 6 March through to 17 September.
Hermitage Amsterdam: Amstel 51, Amsterdam.
