Winter time in Amsterdam means many things: cold, rain, (or even snow!), and darkness at 4pm. BUT it also brings those wonderful joyous things we only get during the holiday season, like ice skating, mulled wine and oliebollen. 'Oliebollen' literally means 'oil balls', and I guess it's the Dutch's answer to the doughnut. They're sold out of fun-park style food trailers, usually parked in a busy square. So keep an eye on your local plein and go have a fresh one dusted in icing sugar. Hmmm...delish.
