Well, the Barcelona vacation is going well. A little too well as I've not had a minute to write a single blog post since Monday night! It's pretty hot. Classes have been good. Intense, but good. My brain is full to the brim. Highlights outside of school; surprise Spanish Hen's dinner! Thank you, Miss Emma! Amazing sushi in Gracia, being a lizard on the beach with the family, wondering aimlessly, and Beth Orton and Bon Iver in concert. Saturday morning now, boiling hot, about to head to the beach!

Today was my first Spanish school – IN Barcelona! I've taken a self-made sabbatical and have taken a month leave-without-pay right before I get hitched to try and get a handle on this new language I'll be hearing more and more of as time goes by. Mr E is, of course, very much not Spanish. He is Catalan. Big difference. But, you have to start somewhere! My first class was pretty good. School is from 9am to 2pm and the 5 hours flew by! It was nice to get the school out of the way then enjoy the afternoon wandering about Barcelona. Had a nice lunch of jombon, pan con tomate, and a small beer. And then I walked my tootsies off. From Ramblas up to check out the Sandro sale (nada, what a disappointment!) on avenida Diagonal (although I'm sure there's a closer one), then walked north-east back to Gracia, and home. I'm very lucky to be hosted by very dear friends of Edu's, Emma and Alex. Managed to find my way home just fine.
So there you have it, a day of joining up a few more dots on language and Barcelona geography! Oh, and a few more discovering the link between Pinterest account (Demelza Rafferty) and Instagram (misslelly) = Pinstagram. Genius. I guess posts over the next few weeks will be done in the evening, as I keep my future-hubby and familia in the loop with my adventures. Shame he's not with me, but it makes me work harder! Top pic, a nice little stamp shop I came across, and below, is my favourite building in Barcelona, which I stumbled on by accident. Ok, better post this before it's Tuesday already. Buenos noches. Besos. Lel x

The Impossible Project. So what's the deal? "In October 2008 The Impossible Project saved the last Polaroid production plant for integral instant film in Enschede, NL, and started to invent and produce totally new instant film materials for traditional Polaroid cameras. In 2010 Impossible saved analog instant photography from extinction by releasing various, brand new and unique instant films. Therewith Impossible prevents more than 300,000,000 perfectly functioning Polaroid cameras from becoming obsolete, changes the world of photography and keeps variety, tangibility and analogue creativity and possibilites alive." You can read more about the team here. And you can buy film and cameras from their site too.
I just got a batch of film, a nice mix of B+W, clolour, and old stock. Can't wait to text it out in Barcelona this weekend! Today I'm heading down for three weeks to do an intensive Spanish course...wish me luck! When I'm not studying I'll be revising, wandering the streets, and tanning!

Wedding cake in the making! My Dad sent these through to me yesterday, my Mum making my wedding cake :) My crazy folks are making the two-tier cake icing it, and then bringing it from Tasmania to London, to Amsterdam, then final destination: Spain! The fruit has been soaking up lots of booze for a few months, and now finally it's been baked. Really looking forward to tasting this. Thanks, Mimmy!

Building blocks. Classic kid's toy. Love 'em. I had a little peek on beloved Etsy yesterday to see what types are out there. Above, said classic. USD $7.50.
Then we get a little more advanced with building decoration on the blocks USD $24.00. I have a couple of these...somewhere, in the attic.*
Then something a bit different. Animal set that I really rather love, USD $18, and fashion set, below, USD $23.
*The Attic. This is actually not an attic at all, but our only actual storage space under the stairs. I'm mostly filled it with kids toys for the future. Partly to be frugal, partly becuase I can't bare to see a gorgeous vintage toy go to waste or a home that might not appreciate it, and partly just obsession. I've slowed down in recent times. But then give me a slow say at work, and the call of Etsy...

Diana Beltran Herrera has a brilliant collection of bird sculptures. Just amazing. They each have such personality and I love the angles of the birds in flight. Just beautiful.
