Restaurant BAK

Just look at this view! What s gorgeous setting for the equally fabulous brand-spanking-new Restaurant BAK. Opened by three young friends, this is going to be a top new dining destination for sure.
Located on the 3rd floor of one of the old waterfront warehouses off Van Diemenstraat it's a great little hidden spot in a stunning building.
Really light and bright; it's a lovely interior space. Tip: make sure you reserve a table by one of the two bigger  windows, as the smaller ones are low down and won't provide you with much of that incredible view of the river Ij.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. The barman makes a mean cocktail, and the food... wow. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here goes –
Fresh, bright, and colourful the restaurant uses all organic and locally sourced produce. The best part – it's a surprise! There's just one menu, which changes weekly, you just have to pick between the 3 or 4 course option. I chose three, but wish I'd gone for four. All too yummy. And the main I forgot to snap before I dived in, so no pics of that. They also worked around my dietary constraints; just tell them what you can't have and they'll oblige.
Desert was the most interesting. Carrot and olive oil sorbet, chocolate crumbs, white chocolate powder, and more I can't even remember now. Really interesting and completely new to me. My 3 course was around €27, from memory. I can't find the info on the site, but very reasonable for what you get. And let's not forget, all this divine dining along side this knock-out view. Best of all for moi: BAK is only about 200m from my front door! Score! Edu and I shall be frequent visitors, I can tell. Well done, BAK boys, you've done a fine job.
